We are seeking an analytical and highly motivated Product Research Analyst for our product testing division known as the Hammacher Schlemmer Institute!  This individual conducts a variety of physical tests on products sold or potentially sold by Hammacher Schlemmer to ensure quality and productivity to all customers and employees.  The Product Research Analyst maintains department Access databases, manages sample requests, orders, and returns.   This position conducts Marketing Research to obtain customer feedback regarding Hammacher Schlemmer products.


Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in designing test methodology for evaluating products.
  • Execute upon designed test methodology for evaluating products.
  • Contact manufacturers and manufacturers’ representatives in order to acquire product samples for evaluation.  Return samples upon completion of tests.
  • Research and evaluate products for functionality, durability, reliability, and quality.
  • Maintain testing productivity to achieve annual volume targets.
  • Analyze test results on defective units to determine cause of failure and report results in written format.
  • Participate and assist in team members’ tests and projects when necessary.
  • Support the organization in elevating product quality and returns reduction initiatives.
  • Respond to assigned technical issues regarding product copy and function.
  • Create and analyze spreadsheets consisting of product performance metrics.
  • Directs all pertinent findings to appropriate personnel through detailed written reports.
  • Assist with researching products for testing consideration.
  • Conduct marketing research via communication with customers in order to gather insight on products.
  • Assist with research and report trends in the marketplace for all test product categories.
Required Skills:  
  • Bachelor’s degree in science ,engineering, business, or marketing.
  • 4-5 years working in a business or professional environment.
  • Advanced Internet and secondary research skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Access, Excel, and Word.
  • Strong written and verbal skills.
  • Strong analytic skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet aggressive deadlines.
  • Ability to interpret and apply results of test analysis and communicate them in detailed written reports.Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems in situations where only limited standards exist.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
  • Ability to work individually as well as in a team.
  • Experience with customer service, consumer behavior, or customer returns a plus.
