We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented Product Research Coordinator for our product testing division known as the Hammacher Schlemmer Institute!  This individual will be contacting vendors and requesting product samples, following up with vendors to ensure samples are received on time, checking in samples as they arrive, creating test data sheets for all Best Testing, and initiating data and report skeletons. The Product Research Coordinator is also responsible for updating department databases and spreadsheets.  As time permits, this position will assist in conducting a variety of physical tests on products sold or potentially sold by Hammacher Schlemmer to ensure quality expectations, customer expectations, and safety requirements are met.


 Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities


  • Contact manufacturers and manufacturer’s representatives in order to acquire product samples for evaluation.
  • Follow up with vendors to ensure product samples are received in a timely manner to meet deadlines.
  • Check-in samples as they arrive, making sure that samples meet the criteria outlined in the proposal for the test.
  • Return samples upon completion of tests.
  • Create test data sheets for all Best Testing prior to the test start date.
  • Create data and report skeletons.
  • Update Institute databases and spreadsheets.
  • Assist Director and Manager of Institute with other projects as assigned.
  • Assist team members in designing test methodology for evaluating products.
  • Assist team members in executing upon assigned test methodology for evaluating products. 
  • Assist team members in entering and analyzing data and writing reports.
  • Support the organization in elevating product quality and returns reduction initiatives.
  • Assist with researching products for testing consideration, taking into consideration functionality, durability, reliability, and quality.
  • Assist in conducting customer surveys.
  • Monitor and prepare reports from multiple sources of customer feedback.
Required Skills:  
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Engineering, or similar.
  • 1-3 years working in a business or professional environment.
  • Experience with customer service and/or communicating with vendors.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, vendors, and customers.
  • Advanced Internet and secondary research skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and Word.
