We have been asked to indentify a LAN Administrator for one of our Department of Defense clients.

 

Scope of work:

  • This position is on the Systems Support Group Team with primary responsibilities in accomplishing and performing deployment, management, support and maintenance of our client’s database, application and web servers. 
  • This position creates and builds servers from images, deploys application upgrades to commercial applications and locally developed software applications. 
  • Candidate will be called upon to load and configure new products and develop methodologies for utilizing new products to manage and monitor servers.
  • Individual will also be required to participate in forecasting, capacity planning and provisioning;
  • Analyzing and recommending upgrade/expansion strategies;
  • Providing reports to various management and technical personnel on the environments supported;
  • Monitoring systems and recommending improvements for operational readiness;
  • Manage the effectiveness of the development, test, training and production environments supported within scope of operations.
  • Participates in the maintenance of hardware and software configuration database(s)/library of all supporting documentation.
 
Required Skills:  
 
  • Minimum three (3) years of industry and/or government agency experience of information technology and local area networks best practices. 
  • Must be a US citizen or have a current security clearance
  • Certification as a Microsoft system administrator is required.
  • Must have a strong background and understanding of Windows 2000, Windows 2003, IIS and UNIX System administration.
  • Proven track record in developing detailed/error free scripts (Perl, shell Visual Basic, Batch, AutoIt, etc.) in order to deploy locally developed software applications in Windows and UNIX environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in the management, installation of software products/tools and monitoring of systems and servers within a large enterprise.
  • Working knowledge of various applications to include Jaguar, Java, DataStage, etc. and web server operations.

 

 

 

  • Working knowledge of Windows Active Directory.
  • Ability to work with the enterprise architecture team to implement new technologies based on analysis and design of current infrastructure.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft clustering.
  • Web Infrastructure building and deployment experience
  • Strong knowledge of Solaris administration – Solaris 9 and 10 (to include zones)
  • Demonstrated experience in WebLogic and SUN One system administration with at least four years (preferred) hands on problem resolution, deployment and isolating anomalies.
  • Ability to isolate the cause/effect of error conditions, formulate resolution strategies and implementation plans.
  • Working knowledge of database structure/design/management (SQL, Oracle/Sybase databases, replication, SQL, database synchronization techniques), firewalls and network servers would be a plus.
  • Ability to effectively adhere to project timelines/schedules and be a deadline oriented person.
  • Strong knowledge of HTTP and HTTPS.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of TCP/IP troubleshooting skills.
  • Working knowledge of other Internet Protocols (i.e. DNS, LDAP, Telnet, SMTP, SNMP)
  • Ability to formulate and detail project scope, implementation plans and schedules.
  • Knowledge of system security, system integration principles and technologies of multiple operating systems.
  • Proven track record of utilizing teamwork to accomplish goals and objectives.
  • Ability to work in a rapid-development environment.
