BCS has been asked to indentify a AIX/DB2 DBA Consultant for one of our clients.

Scope of work: 

·        Candidate should have extensive experience in a medium to large scale Data Center using AIX operating system and associated software and hardware.

·        Technical skills and experience with DB2 UDB environment including: performance monitoring & tuning, subsystem problem resolution, routine production operational support, relational database design, 3rd party application installation and support  DB2 Connect client.

·        This position requires experience in IBM AIX design and administration, using DB2 V 8 or higher in DPF architecture, DB2 UDB V9.1 or higher and Range Partitioning, compression,

·        Q Replication, database monitoring tools, administration tools and database utilities.

·        This position is responsible for working with clients to design and implement a data base infrastructure to ensure needed information is readily available and performance is maximized.

·        Candidate needs extensive experience in tuning SQL in the aforementioned database management systems for high volume and high performance systems.

·        This is not just limited to tuning SQL but evaluating database design and recommending changes to improve system performance as it relates to all applications that use the database or the affected portion of the database.

·        Programming skills for previously mentioned languages need to be strong to support various scripts that are currently used to administer the various database management systems environments as well as to evaluate and aid with the tuning of application specific performance issues

·        SQL, Perl, UNIX shell, setup, configuration of DB2 components.

·        Extensive DBA knowledge and skills relating to databases for 24 x 7 on call rotation.

·        Experience with performance monitors, utilities, and administration tools from multiple vendors.

·        Knowledge and experience in Disaster Recovery planning and testing methodologies.

·        Analysis and design skills involving ability to gather data on systems issues, define alternative approaches, assess business impact, recommend cost-effective solutions, and develop and implement those solutions.
